The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) has revealed logos for three launch missions to the country’s space station this year: the launches of the cargo(货物) craft Tianzhou-VI, and the crewed spaceships Shenzhou XVI and Shenzhou XVII.
Ever since China’s historic Shenzhou V manned space flight in 2003, an iconic logo has been designed for each of the country’s manned missions. The 12 mission logos designed during the construction phase of the country’s space station, in particular, reflect China’s momentous achievements in space exploration.
According to the CMSA, it was the first open logo solicitation(征求) of China’s manned space program. It is aimed at those who are enthusiastic about China’s manned space program. Since the launch of the logo call on February 15 this year, the CMSA has received more than 1,500 submissions from over 500 organizations and individuals across China.
After the preliminary selection, online voting and final validation(确认), the three logos, which were designed by Xiaoao Tiangong Culture and Art (Beijing) Center, Beijing Institute of Space Science and Technology Information and a student at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, respectively, were officially released.
The selected logos were well designed and filled with the best wishes for China’s space station, the CMSA said. The logo of the Shenzhou XVI mission even takes in the “Kun”, a sacred animal from Chinese mythology, which flies extremely high, far and steadily. The Tianzhou VI cargo craft is expected to be launched in May this year. The Shenzhou-16 and Shenzhou XVII spaceships will be launched in May and October, respectively, and will dock with the space station to form a combination of three modules (舱) and three spaceships, according to an earlier announcement made by the CMSA.
