同学卡喉窒息 男孩助其脱险

Garrett Brown is a third-grader. He and his friends were eating chicken for lunch when his classmate Cashton York started to choke(噎住). When he couldn’t breathe, his classmates were apprehensive and ran to a teacher.

The music teacher Jordan Nguyen ran to Cashton York quickly. By the time she reached Cashton’s side, the emergency was over. Instead of crying and shouting, Garrett helped his friend. “Garrett jumped to the other side of the table, went behind Cashton and did a couple of thrusts(猛推). After about two thrusts, Cashton was safe,” Jordan said. “By the time I reached Cashton, the food had already been out and he was breathing again.”

Cashton was taken to the school nurse, but he was fine. The student returned to the dining hall to get a new plate of chicken! At the same time, Jordan and the other teachers were left in a state of shock. “When it was done, we all took a breath and thought, ‘Did that just happen? Was that for real? Did this really just happen?’” said Jordan. “And we had to go back and watch the security footage(监控录像) just to be sure that ‘Oh, that is what happened. Oh, my goodness.’ It was pretty amazing.”

Garrett later said that he’d once been choking and that his dad saved him. His father then taught him how to save someone else if they needed help. The school plans to add more life skills classes for students in the coming months. They will teach first aid, CPR, and other lifesaving skills.
