“绿色低碳”生活成年轻人新潮流

According to a new research, 97 percent of college students agree with low-carbon lifestyles(低碳生活方式). It said that the top three choices among young Chinese are: not wasting food, cutting energy use and choosing to use public transportation(公共交通) rather than cars.

The research also showed that 95 percent of college students want to take part in environmental protection activities, while 81 percent said they would stop buying unnecessary things to develop a low-carbon lifestyle.

“Low-carbon lifestyles will help protect the Earth’s environment. The environment in turn will provide enough of what people need to live. Now, living a green life becomes very popular among young Chinese,” said Li Zhuo, a student at Wuhan University. Li said he has joined a student group to guide people in communities through waste sorting(垃圾分类) at weekends.

“In China, we can see the ‘low-carbon’ slogan(标语) in many places, such as subway stations, cinemas, school dining halls and other places. So the idea of low-carbon lifestyles is familiar in the country,” Li said.

“I think young people are creative and always happy to learn new things, so they have several advantages(优势) to be pioneers in living a green life,” Li added.
