
Guyu (Grain Rain) is the sixth solar term in China. It is the last solar term of spring. It comes around April 20. Rain helps crops grow fast during this time. Farmers work hard to protect plants from insects.
The weather gets warm after Grain Rain. But strong winds and sandstorms happen more often in the north. People wear masks when going out.
In southern China, people drink special spring tea. Tea has good things for health. It keeps the body cool. In the north, people eat toona leaves (香椿). This green vegetable makes people strong.
Fishermen start their first trips during Grain Rain. They pray for safety and good luck. Long ago, people thanked sea gods for food. This tradition is over 2,000 years old!
