Drinking full-fat milk could lead to a longer life, because it can protect against strokes(中风), scientists have suggested. While conventional(传统的) diet advice has for decades said that skimmed(脱脂的) and semi-skimmed milk is much healthier for us than full-fat milk, a study suggests that the opinion may be wrong. Researchers found no significant link between dairy fats and heart disease and stroke, while it it believed that the two biggest killers are usually associated with dairy fats. In fact, certain types of dairy fats might actually help guard against a severe stroke, researchers reported.
It will be good news to people who prefer full-fat varieties of milk, butter and cheese to those with lower quantities of fat. Professor Marcia Otto of the University of Texas said, "Our findings not only support but also strengthen the evidences. These evidences show that the dairy fat does not increase the risk of heart disease." In addition to not contributing to death, the results suggest that the dairy fat may lower the risk of death from cardiovascular disease(心血管疾病), particularly from strokes.
