
On April 9, 2025, actor Wei Ziyun from China’s Hong Kong shared sad news in a video. He said Hong Kong actor Gu Feng passed away at 94.
Gu Feng was born in Shanghai on July 3, 1930. His real name was Chen Siwen. He joined Shaw Brothers Pictures in 1965. He became famous for playing villains (反派主角) or leaders in movies.
In 1982, he won Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Horse Awards for Wu Song. He won the same award again in 1983 for The Girl Who Waits. Many people loved his roles in The New One-Armed Swordsman, Bodyguards, and Hail the Judge. He also acted in TV shows based on Jin Yong’s novels, like The Legend of the Condor Heroes.
Even when he was older, Gu Feng kept acting. In 2006, he played the father of Jackie Chan’s character “Thongs” in Rob-B-Hood. His unique style made him a legend of Hong Kong cinema.
People will always remember Gu Feng’s great work.
