On April 6th, 2025, China’s first self-built large cruise ship, Adora Magic City, made its debut (首次亮相) in Qingdao. After this, it will sail towards Jeju in South Korea and Fukuoka in Japan. This exciting event is yet another highlight in the remarkable journey of Adora Magic City.
In 2024, Adora Magic City started its first commercial journey. On January 1st, over 3,000 Chinese and foreign passengers boarded the ship at Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal.
Built by CSSC Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, Adora Magic City is truly impressive. It’s 323.6 metres long with 16 decks. The ship has 2,125 guest rooms and can hold up to 5,246 passengers. Onboard, there are 26 restaurants and bars. They serve more than 400 dishes that mix Eastern and Western flavors. There’s even a mahjong lounge for relaxation. What’s more, the ship’s theatre shows Chinese-themed musicals like Marco Polo: an Untold Love Story.
This cruise ship is not only a place for travel but also a symbol of China’s industrial strength. It shows that Chinese shipbuilders have mastered the technology to build large cruise ships, aircraft carriers, and large LNG carriers.
Ticket prices to Adora Magic City range from about 2,000 to over 10,000 yuan. Passengers can buy tickets through the official website, WeChat mini-program, customer service center, or local travel agencies.
According to Sun Tianxu, vice president of Trip.com, today’s passengers want more than just shopping. They are looking for deeper travel experiences. Therefore, the cruise ship is ready to meet these new needs. Adora Magic City, China’s “floating city”, is set to bring more wonderful travel experiences to people!
