The 31st Summer World University Games (Summer Universiade/ FISU Games) will be held in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province in 2023. The city is trying its best to realize the goal of holding a “simple, safe and splendid” competition from July 28 to August 8.
The Summer Universiade is expected to draw a lot of sportsmen and sportswomen from over 150 countries. The event includes 269 medal(奖章) events across 18 sports and has three optional(可选择的) sports chosen by the Chengdu organizing committee: rowing, shooting sport and Wushu.
Looking west from Longquan Mountain in the east of Chengdu, we can see the place for the opening ceremony of the Chengdu Universiade—the main stadium(体育场) of the Dong’an Lake Sports Center. Except for the opening ceremony of the Universiade, it will hold activities such as swimming competitions. The Chengdu Universiade Village in Chengdu University was completed in March 2021. Covering an area of about 800,000 square meters, it can hold about 11,000 people. The village will become the home of the young people from all over the world. It provides many kinds of services and boosts cultural exchanges among people from around the world.
The city of Chengdu is going all out for the event and building itself to be a world-famous city of cultural creativity, tourism, sports events, and an international capital of food, music and MICE services.
