On August 22, the Honor-developed humanoid robot Lightning conducted a pre-competition 100-meter test at the outdoor testing site for the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games. Operating fully autonomously without human remote control, it clocked 9.32 seconds with a peak speed of 14.5 meters per second, a result surpassing the men’s 100-meter world record.
Conducted on a real-world outdoor track, the test involved external disturbances such as uneven ground and wind, placing high demands on the robot’s gait adjustment and balance control. After the field test, the robot Lightning is set to take part in three official racing events at the Games: the 100-meter, 400-meter and 1,500-meter races.
