The 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, held in Busan, South Korea, adopted a resolution on July 25 to inscribe China’s Jingdezhen Handicraft Porcelain Industry Sites on the World Heritage List, bringing the total number of World Heritage sites in China to 61.
Located in northeastern Jiangxi Province, the heritage site consists of five major components with 15 sets of heritage elements and 45 heritage spots, covering a total area of 7,524.7 hectares, comprising both the heritage zone and the buffer zone. As a representative relic of Jingdezhen’s handicraft porcelain industry system from the 10th to the 19th century, it demonstrates the innovative development of China’s handmade porcelain technology, art and industry, and bears witness to the profound influence of China’s handicraft porcelain industry on the development of the global porcelain industry and exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations.
