A promising teenage footballer who lost both lower legs after a car crash has told how he is just thankful to be alive. He needed a double __1__ below the knee and is due to be fitted for prosthetics (义肢) soon. The football-obsessed goalkeeper, described as having great __2__, said: “Everyone has down days, but I’ll try to keep smiling.”

Adam was a passenger in a car with friends when it crashed. He was taken to hospital. The operation was __3__, and now he is undergoing intensive rehabilitation (康复). On his first weekend back home, he went in his wheelchair to __4__ his teammates win a match.

He does not remember the accident __5__. “I remember waking up just before I went into surgery. Somebody explained what happened.” He said he phoned his mum and __6__ for what was happening. “I kept saying sorry to her, thinking I’d put the whole family through such terrible worry,” Adam recalled.
