Huang Qingsui is from the Zhuang ethnic group in Guangxi. He spent five years traveling to villages across Southwest China. He collected traditional patterns (纹样) from these areas.
In 2018, Huang built an online database (数据库) of Chinese patterns. In the beginning, it had about 3,000 patterns. Now, there are more than 30,000 patterns with over 300 themes. Huang’s goal is to make it easier for designers to use traditional Chinese patterns into their works.
Huang hopes to have more products with Chinese patterns in the market. He wants traditional patterns to be seen by more people.
