In 2020, Laura Rudd and her fiancé (未婚夫) bought their first home. They expected the moving day would be emotional, but they didn’t expect the following would be one of the reasons why. On the kitchen table, the couple discovered a letter from the previous (先前的) owners. With it was a bottle of wine to celebrate the big day.
The letter shows that the previous owners were parents to four children. Sadly, both of them have passed away, leaving their adult children to sell the home they cherished so much. Now, they’re hoping the future owners have the same love for the home as they always have.
“In the following years there has been so much happiness and love and sadly a little grief, too, hence where we are today,” part of the letter reads. “But in all of these years the thing that resounds (回响) the most is the laughter, and there was so much of that with family, relatives and friends.”
“We thought the note was so thoughtful, and of course we kept it,” she shares. “It was with a bottle of wine when we entered the house. It was clear that the family loved the home, and we knew that when we bought the house.” Laura shares that she cried when she first read the letter. She plans to take it with them wherever they go in life. This was proven to be true when the couple moved out of the home in 2022.
Like the previous owners, Laura and her fiance told the newest owners everything they knew about the kind folks who left them that letter. Best of all, their wishes for the couple came true. “We loved that home very much,” Laura says, “it was filled with our love, too.”
