The mum of a teenager killed in a car smash has told of the tearful moment she met the little girl saved by her daughter’s donated liver.
Lindsey Adderson had the courage to visit nine-year-old Ella Noon, seven years after the transplant from Jessica Iddon transformed her life.
And on their first meeting Lindsey happily – with Ella jumping into her arms and telling mum Andrea: “I’ll be fine, I’ll be with my donor mum.”
Lindsey, 47,said: "She’s going to be a special girl in my life.” She said: “When I first saw Ella, I just wanted to give her a hug. “She talks to me on the phone all the time, and I give her encouragement.”
At their first meeting, Ella said she had even nicknamed her new liver “Jess”.
And she told Lindsey as they prepared for a supermarket trip: “Me and Jessie are ready for shopping.” Lindsey, from Matlock, Derbys, added: “This is the happiest time when I’ve lost my child, who would possibly now have a family of her own. “But Jess has given life to me so many. I have a happy family now.” Jessica was just 17 when she died.
