Recently, a quick-thinking 7th grader is being praised. He successfully stopped his school bus from hitting other cars.

The bus driver was taking students home from school. Suddenly, she began to experience “some dizziness (头晕)”. She tried to stop the car. But she didn’t make it. Finally she lost consciousness (意识). The bus began to change direction. It lost control and was going to be hit by oncoming traffic. At that dangerous point, Dillon Reeves jumped into action.  

Reeves sat at the back of the bus. He jumped out of the seat, threw his bag down, ran to the front of the bus, took control of the steering wheel (方向盘) and brought the bus to a stop in the middle of the road. Although he was in a panic, he made it successful.

In the video, Reeves is seen taking control of the steering wheel and then shouting to others on the bus, “Someone calls the police. Now!” The police quickly came. The driver was sent to hospital and all students got on another bus. They were taken home safely. No one on the bus was hurt. The driver was still in the hospital for testing.

The police called Reeves a hero: “We are very proud of our 7th Grade Hero Dillon Reeves! He kept many people away from a bad accident.”

“Dillon, he’s really been a great boy this year,” his mother Ireta said. “He has surprised us with great grades and with his performances at schools with his friends and classmates. And to do something like this just fills my heart, makes me feel excited and warm.”
