On February 24, 2023, 81-year-old Jerry Jouret set out on a 3-hour drive from his mountain house to his family home. Unluckily, a snowstorm came. When he turned to a smaller road, he found his car couldn’t move because of the thick snow.

A light quilt and a towel were the only things Jouret had to keep himself warm. Luckily, he had some water with him and had bought some bread before making his trip. He just ate small bits of the bread to get him through.  

On February 28, the rescue (救援) team (InyoSAR) got a call for a missing person. But because of the heavy storm, the search missions (任务) were delayed. They started to search for him on March 2. Late that day, a helicopter(直升机) pilot found something. At first he thought it was a large rock. After getting a closer look, he saw an arm waving(挥舞) out of the small opening in the car window. It turned out to be Jerry Jouret.

 “The old man was saved and sent to the hospital that evening,” InyoSAR said.
