A fitness lover from Newquay who passed away at a hospice(养老院) has had a film made about her inspirational battle against cancer. Christine, who worked at Bishops’ School, worked with her granddaughter Jessica on a series of photographs while she was cared for at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice. Jessica has now developed the vivid pictures into a film with the help of award-winning Newquay photography student Jade, which will help promote the work the charity undertakes.

Jessica began working at Cornwall Hospice Care in September 2014 as its digital media and design officer, following the completion of her degree, after she came across the job while visiting her grandmother at the hospice. Jade is in the final year of her applied media degree at Truro and Penwith College and is an award-winning photographer(摄影师), having received The Mercedes Curnow Award.  Jessica’s story is being released on Thursday to mark Jessica’s 22nd birthday and a year since Christine died.

At the age of 68 Christine was a complete fitness fanatic, running a mile-and-a-half most mornings, buying her paper and making the trip back home. However in April 2013 Christine was diagnosed with cancer. She described her cancer as something that just needed to be sorted. She expressed no fear and continued with her “healthy body, healthy mind” outlook on life. She was offered further treatment, but it would never cure her illness, just give her more time.

Jessica said “Many people ask me how I do it, work for a hospice, considering the situation in which my career came about. I reply with the same answer every time, ‘I couldn’t imagine a more rewarding job’. I have her to thank for the position that I am in now, and working for Cornwall Hospice Care enables me to do that, by focusing the dedication to my work in helping others like my nan.”
