If the company did a great achievement in the past year, maybe they would buy a lot of great presents. As I know, the most popular prize is Ipad, Iphone, camera, travel package. 

I think this kind of party is not only a party to let all colleagues have fun together, it could help people releasing press and doing more communication with different colleagues. Apart from this, it is a kind of advertisement too.
