Dragon Boat Festival is an old Chinese festival. It is on the third day of June this year. Chinese people have a 3-day holiday from June 3 to 5.

Dragon Boat Festival has a very long history. There are many stories about its start. And the most famous(最著名的) one is about Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan was a poet. He wrote some good poems. He was also a statesman and gave advice to the king. But he drowned(淹死) himself in the Miluo River on the 5th day of the 5th Chinese lunar(农历的) month. To remember him, every fifth day of the fifth lunar month people beat drums and go boating on the river.

Chinese people practice many customs(习俗) of the Dragon Boat Festival. Dragon boat racing is one of the most important. Eating zongzi is also important. The taste of zongzi is different in different places, because people have different eating habits.
