Julie and Jimmy Johnson own dogs in their house. But they had never expected to have four in the house that night. “It is normal to wake up in our house with one of our dogs in the bed with us,” Julie Johnson wrote in a Facebook post. “One small problem, THIS IS NOT OUR DOG, nor do we know how she got in our house.”

In the darkness, they thought it was one of their dogs. Then as daylight began to move in through the curtains, they realized they were lying close to someone else’s dog in their bed. “My husband first discovered that and was startled, because I almost felt a slight shaking from his body and it woke me up. In a quiet but serious voice, he said, ‘Julie, whose dog is this?’”

“My husband just went to pull the blankets up a little bit, almost like they were going to protect her...and at that moment, the dog got even further up on our pillows(枕头) and snuggled(依偎) in. She was surely 100% happy and satisfied to be there.”

Julie took a few photos of the strange and funny situation and posted them on Facebook in hope of finding the dog’s owner. It didn’t take long before Julie received a message from Nala’s owner. In fact, Nala took off her collar(项圈) while on a walk and ran into the woods the day before.

The only mystery is how exactly Nala got into the house without any of the other dogs barking. Julie thinks that a door was left open or not closed completely, and then Nala, who is afraid of thunder, saw the light and found her way inside during the storm that night.

1.How many dogs do Julie and Jimmy Johnson have?

A Two.

B Three.

C Four.

D Five.

根据第一段第二句的“But they had never expected to have four in the house that night.”

2.What does the underlined word “startled” probably mean?

A Silent.

B Pleased.

C Awful.

D Shocked.

根据文章内容可知Jimmy Johnson发现床上躺着一只别人家的狗,并结合后文“because I almost felt a slight shaking from his body”可知Julie感受到了他身体微微的颤抖,由此推断Jimmy Johnson应该是感到很震惊。故选D。

3.What did Jimmy Johnson do for the dog?

A He got her out of bed.

B He set up a home for her.

C He helped her lie comfortably.

D He protected her from other dogs.

根据第三段的“My husband just went to pull the blankets up a little bit”以及“She was surely 100% happy and satisfied to be there”可知,Jimmy Johnson把毯子拉高了一点,狗躺在那里应该是感到非常舒服。故选C。

4.What can be inferred from the fourth paragraph?

A Nala didn’t like walking.

B Nala lost her way in the woods.

C Nala’s owner left her on purpose.

D Nala wasn’t taken home by her owner.

根据第四段最后一句“Nala took off her collar while on a walk and ran into the woods the day before”可知,这只狗在散步途中溜走了并且钻进了树林,由此推断应是在树林里迷路了。故选B。

5.What’s the main idea of the last paragraph?

A The mystery of Nala.

B Julie’s several guesses.

C The special night weather.

D Julie’s worries about her dogs.

根据最后一段中的“The only mystery...”
