暖心之旅:一位老师对特殊学生的守护

For many students in special education, school can feel quite different. While other students wear team jerseys (参赛者运动衫) and join clubs, these kids often have fewer chances to take part in regular activities. However, a teacher named Wes Massey in Georgia decided to make a change.
“A lot of our kids don’t get to do things like basketball or cheerleading,” Massey said. “I want them to enjoy what everyone else enjoys.” With help from donations and volunteers, he planned a special surprise — an overnight trip for 31 students and their families to Great Wolf Lodge. Everything was free: the bus ride, the rooms, meals, and all the fun activities.
The trip took careful planning. They arranged special buses and cars for students who needed medical support. When everyone arrived, each student received a gift card to choose their own lunch — a small but meaningful step toward independence. Families played mini-golf, made stuffed animals, and tried new games together.
The whole community showed their support. Even the local sheriff escorted (护送) the buses on the road. For Massey, the message was simple: “Life is hard and full of challenges for you, but we’ll try our best to make you feel included, important and loved.”
