A soft humanoid robot dubbed China’s answer to “Baymax” has been featured in Science Advances. Developed by researchers at the Southern University of Science and Technology, the robot named GrowHR can stretch from 0.49 to 1.36 meters tall.
Inspired by human bones, its lightweight, inflatable structure enables unique skills like walking on water and squeezing through narrow spaces. Weighing only 4.5 kg, it is safe for close human interaction and can even be airlifted by drones for potential rescue missions. This innovation highlights a new approach to creating versatile and safer robots for homes and workplaces.
