The Belly and the Members

In former times, our belly, hands, legs, mouth and teeth were good friends. They worked together all day and all night. One day, there was an argument among the members.

“Each of us is unique and important. Why do we have to work for the belly? He is so lazy that he does nothing but eating every day,” the hands complained. “You are right!” nodded the mouth, then the other members.

“We are tired and we don’t want to work for him anymore!” They reached agreement.

From then on, everything stopped. The hands were no longer to carry food to the mouth, nor the mouth to receive the food, nor the teeth to chew the food. They felt relaxed ________ any work. How excited they were!

Several days later, they became weaker and weaker. Finally, they got sick and began, one by one, to fail and flag. The members realized that although the belly seemed to be cumbersome (笨重的) and useless, it played an important role of its own.
