On January 22, Chinese actor Huang Jingyu was officially announced as “Space Tourist No. 009,” set to journey to suborbital space in 2028 aboard China’s first reusable commercial manned spacecraft, the CYZ1. He will be accompanied by figures including Chinese Academy of Engineering academician Li Licheng.
The flight will cross the 100-kilometer Kármán line, allowing passengers to experience over five minutes of weightlessness and a full view of Earth. Developed by Beijing Trans-Orbital, the CYZ1 is China’s first commercial manned spacecraft, with seats priced at 3 million yuan each. Over ten paying travelers from various fields have already reserved their trips.
