Simon

I’ve been taking cooking classes at school. I’m still crazy about making food, even though it’s not always easy. Those cooking skills I’ve learnt are useful, especially when I have to make a meal with limited things. I’ve realized that to eat well, you need to keep learning to cook new dishes, not just a few dishes. Imagine you’re a musician — people will get tired of hearing even a great song, if it’s the only one you can play. The same goes for cooking.

Amy

I love watching my mum mix different things to make delicious dishes. I don’t think we need to stick to recipes (食谱) strictly. And what matters is just trying things out. So when I cook, I often try something new and take notes of what I’ve done and what I’ve used — a bit like what I do in my Science classes! I’ve learnt a lot of cooking skills, but I know I still have more to learn.

Daniel

Helping in the kitchen is fun. I can make simple things like pies for everyone. But I often make a mess. Once, I even served my pie without the sauce! My family are patient. They’ve given me the confidence to learn more cooking skills. Books help me a lot in my learning. I like to read cooking books in my room and go to the kitchen when I think I can manage some key recipes well.
