A new study says that Earth has a second moon now. What’s going on? Let’s take a look.
This mini-moon is a small asteroid (小行星). It is about 10 meters long. It will travel around Earth to late November (starting from late September). Earth’s gravity pulls it. Mini-moons are rare. But scientists saw them in 1981 and 2022.
The mini-moon is called 2024 PT5. You cannot see it without a telescope (望远镜). Why? Because it is very small. After some time, the mini-moon will go back into space. It will not come back until the year 2055.
