In 1986, Nong Jiagui came to the “leprosy (麻风) village”. He was the first teacher in this village. He saw the sad faces of the old people. He knew that kids there wanted to learn things. He decided to teach the children well. He also wanted to help them get out of the village.

After Nong came, all school-age children could go to school. The village has become more open to the outside world. He named the village Luosongdi. “As long as (只要) one child in the village needs me, I will keep on teaching,” Nong said.
