After her first journey, Xiaxia lost about 10 kg, and gave up her soda habit. To save money, she only stayed in hotels a few days a month to clean her clothes and sleeping bag, depending on service areas or local people for other needs. She met many travelers, villagers offering local specialties, fans, and those less welcoming.

Though many people on the Internet think that she looks different from what she looked like before, Xiaxia doesn’t worry about that. “I just want to experience the world and challenge myself. My sunburns are badges (印记) of my hard work; they make me love myself more,” she said. “Life only happens once; I want to do the things that I want.”
