Although it is successful, it has met with divided opinions online. For now, “Won’t Cry” has a 5.8 rating on Douban, based on over 45,000 reviews. It turned out to be one of Chou’s lowest-rated singles. Many netizens agreed that the song was unoriginal. But one netizen said, “Objectively speaking, it’s not as good as his old songs. Chou has been hugely popular since his first album was released in 2000. In the nearly twenty years since, he has sold over 30 million albums and completed six world tours.
