The Internet plays an important part in our lives. It brings us a lot of convenience. However, with the rise of technology, cyberbullying has become a growing problem.
Cyberbullying happens when people use technology to bully someone. It comes in many forms. Cyberbullies use tools like pictures, videos and messages to hurt others. Technology enables people to do things anonymously. Cyberbullies might not bully someone in person, but they might feel that they are empowered to do so online.
How to help children avoid cyberbullying? Here are some things you can do to help make cyberbullying less likely to happen to your child:
Most things shared online never truly disappear. Therefore, the effects of cyberbullying can be very serious. If you are being cyberbullied, you should tell an adult you trust about it. Speaking up and finding someone to help can prevent cyberbullying from becoming an even bigger problem. To prevent cyberbullying, it’s important for us to be careful about our online behavior. Think about what you post. How might it affect others? Would you do or say these same things in person? If your answer is “no”, don’t do so online!
