A 9-year-old boy in Watertown, South Dakota used his wish from Make-A-Wish to throw a party for his entire school.

Javier Amos has been battling cancer. And the best news is that he’s now in remission. The Make-A-Wish Foundation recently approached his family to grant him any wish he wanted. Javier could have gone to Disney World or met his favorite athlete. Instead, he asked them to throw a pizza party for all of his friends at school.

“Out of all the wishes we have granted, this has got to be one of the most unique ones,” Make-A-Wish South Dakota Program Services Director Joe Evenson said. “For a kid at his age to be able to do what he’s doing today, he could have gone anywhere in the world, chosen to met anybody he wanted to or had anything he wanted.”

Javier was in and out of the hospital for much of the last year receiving chemotherapy treatments. He said he really missed spending time with his friends.

Last Friday, Javier arrived at school in a police car. When he arrived, everyone was waiting for him with signs and costumes. For two hours after school, Javier and all of his McKinley Elementary schoolmates ate pizza, played laser tag and enjoyed inflatable slides, bouncy houses and obstacle courses.
