星巴克重金寻环保咖啡杯

After years of trying to produce a more environmentally friendly coffee cup, Starbucks said that it's giving a $10 million challenge to find designs for a cup. The cup is to recycle easily. The coffee cup at present is made from cardboard with a thin layer of plastic inside. This cup can keep the drink warm and prevent(防止) the cardboard from becoming water, but there is a shortcoming. It also makes the cup difficult to recycle.
About 600 billion of these cups are distributed globally each year, and Starbucks accounts for about 6 billion of them, CNN reported. The coffee chain tried their best to solve the cup issue, but they failed. "We've always had a social impact agenda. Sustainability(可持续) is a big part of that agenda," Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson told CNN's Maggie Lake.
In 2010 Starbucks promised 100% of their cups would be reusable or recyclable by 2015, but it didn’t happen. Starbucks is thinking about other solutions to reduce the consumption of cardboard cups before the greener cups are produced. In the near future, we believe they will find the greener cups.
