Shared bikes have become popular across China’s major cities. There are about 16 million shared bikes nationwide. They are mainly offered by Alibaba-backed OFO and Tecent-funded Mobike.

But poor regulation has created damage on the country's roads, with thousands of bikes dumped in already crowded public spaces. There are no fixed docking stations in China.
