修剪草坪太累太耗时?你只是方法不对!

Mowing the lawn is a physically demanding and time-consuming job in the summer months. But a leading garden designer says many of us are cutting our grass far too frequently. Dan Pearson says longer grass will produce wild flowers, which will look 100 per cent better than a neatly mown lawn. He suggests we should let the grass grow and then simply mow a path through it to allow access to the rest of the garden.
Mr Pearson also argues against using chemicals to create the perfect lawn. He says, “The amount of energy, time and money we spend  simply mowing our lawns is a big investment. I think lawns can be very rich habitats without the chemicals.”
Mr Pearson says gardeners can easily grow yellow rattle, an attractive wild flower that increases species diversity, if they plant it in the autumn. He adds, “You can quite easily adapt your lawn by simply adding something like yellow rattle. And as long as you don't cut it until the middle of July, the yellow rattle then seeds.”
Mr Pearson claims a part-cut lawn can look more attractive than one that is just left to grow. “A path through a lawn is very wonderful,” he says. “If you were just to leave the lawn to grow, there's a feeling of neglect which you don't get if you mow half or a sharp edge to it. So you might be able to reduce your mowing down by 20 per cent by simply mowing an edge or a path and you get a better sight which is 100 per cent better. So I'm all for people leaving lawns.” Mr Pearson complains the lack of teenagers willing to cut the grass, adding, “I think the most important thing is to find somebody younger to mow the lawn when they feel like doing that.”

C Because a neatly mown lawn will look much better.

D Because it will save people much time and energy.

A Because it is an attractive wild flower.

B Because it can increase species diversity.

C Because it is planted in autumn.

D Because it doesn’t produce seeds until July.

解析:选D。细节理解题。根据第三段最后一句的And as long as you don't cut it until the middle of July the yellow rattle then seeds可知这种花在七月中旬才能结果,因此在七月前不要割掉这种植物。故选D。
