New Year’s Day is a traditional festival for people in the world. On this day, people in different countries eat different food.
In the USA, people eat herrings. Americans like herrings because they are the symbol of happiness for a family. In Spain, families like to get together, listen to music and play games. And when it is twelve o’clock and the New Year begins, people eat twelve grapes. They think grapes can bring good luck in the next 12 months.
As we all know, dumplings mean tuanyuan in China. And many families make one or two dumplings with coins in them. If you eat the dumplings with coins, you will be lucky in the New Year.
Different people eat different things on the New Year’s Day, but their wish is the same---to get health and happiness.
