China has become the world capital of gamers and gaming. The Chinese gamer market now is even larger than that in the USA and Europe, once No. 1 and No. 2. What’s more, games and gaming are now contributing more than $100 billion every year to the global economy.

Although the number of gamers in the USA and Europe continues to grow, it is rising much faster in China. When you think that Chinese gamers also spend more time and money on their hobbies, you can see why the Chinese market is now so important for gaming firms, many of which are indeed Chinese ones.

Interestingly, from an “East meets West” point, the news comes after we reported earlier in 2017 that a Chinese game developer is investing in a new studio in Scotland.

Skymoons has developed several popular games such as Zombie Wars and Seer Superheroes. It has set up the studio in Edinburgh in order to develop a new online game played by several players together. Over 20 staff will be based at the site, which has been helped by Skymoons and the Scottish government.

Scotland’s video games industry has been said to be “booming”. The country is home to some of the most exciting developers and companies in Europe. It has nearly 100 gaming firms and over 1,000 employers.
