人生不是只为了金钱
人生不是只为了金钱

I teach students aged between 8 and 18 every day. I’m a foreigner and I know that they are always watching me very carefully. Most of the students don’t know my growing background(背景). They often jokingly say, “Oh, Michael, we know you are a very rich man.” It’s true that there are many things I want them to know. But one thing I make sure to teach them is that life isn’t all about money.

I come from the USA. We can enjoy many great advantages there, while most other places of the world probably don’t have them. However, most Americans have learned the same thing about life—“It’s not all about money.”

Money is good. We all need it. We must have it in order to live our lives well enough. But I can promise you that money won’t make you happy.   △   Money is not more powerful(强大的) than your own mind.

Last night, one of my very top students was sitting with me and talking about learning, wisdom(智慧) and how to live successfully. I shared many stories with him about many great people like Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Colonel Sanders and others. They all changed the world. However, none of these people pursued(追求) money.

Money is necessary. But money isn’t everything. Being helpful to others is the most important for everyone.
