Xie Qiao (May 12, 1990 - August 4, 2014) was a good example of the soldier in China.

Xie was born on May 12, 1990 in Ningde, Fujian province in China. He joined the army in December, 2008. He won many kinds of prizes in the army. 

When a magnitude-6.5 earthquake struck Ludian county, in Yunnan province on August 3, 2014. A rescue team was sent there to help and Xie was in the team. Because the quake cut the road, they could not get into the county by lorries. They had to walk there. During their trip, Xie wanted to look for a missing woman. When he tried to swim across a lake, an aftershock hit the area again. Xie was hit by a huge stone and sunk into the water. After searching for 4 days, people found him, but he no longer came back to life.

Xie was a hero. He built up a good example to the Chinese people to be cheerfully selfless. People should always be ready to help others.
