The 16-19-year-olds were asked how much screen time they 3 outside school hours, and on what activities, for any of six electronic 4 : computer; smartphone; Mp3 player; and TV. They were also asked 5 about their sleep routine on weekdays and at weekends: when they normally went to bed and 6 up; how much sleep they needed to feel relaxed;and how 7 it took them to get to sleep.
The study found 8 quality sleep was linked to more time spent on such devices, and it 9 took more than an hour to drop off. Total daytime screen use of more than four hours was linked to a 49 per cent greater 10 of taking longer than 60 minutes to 11 .
On average, the teens said they needed 8-9 hours of sleep to feel 12 .But those who spent more than two 13 emailing or chatting online were more than three times as likely to 14 for less than five hours. Those 15 more than four hours in front of any screen were 3.5 times as 16 to sleep for less than five hours. Computers were the device that cause most 17 because many children are addicted in computer games.
Dr MariHysing said 18 use may simply replace sleeping time or it may 19 sleep by stimulating the nervous system. It is also 20 that the light from electronic devices may change a teenager's body clock.
1.-
A growth
B strength
C faith
D truth
解析:选A。 Teenagers who spend more time watching TV, using iPads and playing electronic games take longer可以得知孩子用在屏幕前的时间增加了,据此可以得知的学生对电子产品的使用“增长”,使用此处要用growth。
2.-
A improve
B harm
C punish
D support
解析:选B。根据文章第一段第一句的playing electronic games take longer to fall asleep and get poorer quality rest可以得知花费更长的时间入睡,因此也就“伤害”他们的健康了。
3.-
A attached
B impressed
C spent
D shared
解析:选C。根据第三段第一句的quality sleep was linked to more time spent on such devices可知研究者询问他们在校外“用”了多少时间,所以此处要用spent。
4.-
A devices
B books
C tapes
D dishes
解析:选A。
5.-
A speeches
B sayings
C words
D questions

A never
B once
C seldom
D often
解析:选A。
10.-
A step
B risk
C charge
D control
Total daytime screen use of more than four hours可以如果用电子产品超过四个小时,睡不着的“风险”会增大,所以此处要用risk。
11.-
A stand up
B come out
C fall asleep
D pick up
解析:选C。根据第三段第一句的quality sleep was linked to more time spent on such devices, and it可以的得知在电子设备上用的时间过多,因此很难“入睡”。
12.-
A corrected
B supported
C amazed
D refreshed
解析:选D。根据第6题后面的how much sleep they needed to feel rested可知他们需要八九个小时才能“恢复精力”,所以此处要用refreshed。
