Six British men were arrested in Spain because of  “shocking behavior while drunk” on board a Ryanair flight.

The group flew out from Glasgow Prestwick Airport at 7am on Thursday morning to Palma, Mallorca, yet their behavior was so bad the crew were forced to call the police before landing. The men were set to holiday at the ill-famed party resort of Magaluf.

Speaking to the Daily Record a witness said: “The Guardia Civil police came and arrested the six men, the air crew had called on ahead to tell them what was happening. It was 7am yet these folk were behaving badly. It was shocking.”

A spokesperson for Ryanair told MailOnline Travel: “The crew of this flight from Prestwick to Palma requested police assistance after several passengers made trouble in-flight. The aircraft landed normally and police removed and detained these individuals upon arrival at Palma. We will not put up with uncontrollable or troublesome behavior at any time and we sincerely apologized to other customers for any inconvenience caused. The safety and comfort of our customers, crew and aircraft is our number one priority.”

Just last month Ryanair took the first-ever step in history to ban passengers from bringing their own alcohol on board flights between Glasgow and the party island of Ibiza for safety and comfort. The airline informed passengers travelling to the Spanish island that their alcohol purchases from duty free shops are no longer allowed inside the plane, and they will be kicked off the flight if they don’t follow the rule.

A Ryanair spokesman said the airline made the decision after discussions with customers and airport officials. “Those who have purchased duty free alcohol will be asked to either place their purchases in their cabin baggage, or leave their purchases behind.” The spokesman didn’t say what will happen to passengers caught trying to take alcohol on board secretly.
