Joey worked in a theater and he was a young actor. One night, Joey arrived at the theater early and he was dressed in a light hospital gown(罩衣). There was a few minutes before the end of the first scene. He would go on stage in the second scene.
Joey felt nervous because it was his first time to have an important part in a play. How could he face all those people watching his perform? Joey put his head in his hands and tried to remember his lines, but nothing came to his mind.
Someone knocked on the door, which made him look up. He was to go on stage in the second scene. “Would I miss my part and destroy the play?” he thought to himself. The manager noticed how nervous Joey was and suggested he should stand near the stage where he could watch and follow the play. She said it was a good way of getting rid of this nervousness.
She was right. It seemed to work. In fact, the more Joey watched the play, the more he felt himself part of it.
