Do you know “One Belt One Road” (OBOR)? How much do you know about it? Now let’s learn it together.
OBOR was first put forward by President Xi Jinping in a speech on September 7, 2013. It refers to the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” for short. It is a development strategy, focusing on economy prosperity(繁荣) and cooperation among countries between China and the rest of Eurasia (Europe and Asia).
Over the past 3 years, countries along the OBOR routes(路径) including China have got great success in business trades, finance development. Thanks to the far-reaching idea, it’s now a lot easier for people to travel in and out of China. Besides, OBOR will make China have a great success in global market. Also, with building a transportation network in the neighboring area, OBOR will promote the export trade.
However, it’s also facing great challenges. Safety is the major one. For example, as part of OBOR, China will build 81,000 km of high-speed railway, involving 65 countries. The railway passes some of the world’s most conflict-ridden(冲突四起的) area. Poor credit will be another problem. Many recipient(接受者) countries in Asia have poor credit, which means many projects may be hopeful at the beginning but will be difficult to go on.
Anyway, OBOR will be a forever legacy in Chinese history and will continue to bring glory to our nation.
