Milaan Seeliger and his brothers, including Jaiden Seeliger and Keanu Seeliger, give technology to older people and teach them to use it. Here’s part of my conversation with Milaan.
Q1: You started Tech Angels with your brothers. Tell me about it.
A1: We help old people in nursing homes (养老院). We give them phones, so they can stay in touch with their loved ones. They can also play games or do anything they want.
Q2: How did you get started?
A2: Tech Angels started with our 97-year-old great-grandma Marry Seeliger. She was in a nursing home in New Jersey. We could keep in touch with her by phone. But then we thought of all the people who probably didn’t have or know how to use a phone. If we gave them a phone, it would make them much happier. They would have a way to connect to people.
Q3: What kinds of reactions (反应) do the elders have?
A3: A mix of surprise and excitement. Surprise, because they would never think some 13- and 14-year-old boys would come and help them. And excitement, for being able to talk to their grandchildren or great-grandchildren. It makes them so happy.
