This Christmas, Barbara Rieco got a special gift from his grandson, Chad Cooper.
In 1972, Barbara Rieco wrote a children’s book that held her dreams within its pages. Although she tried her best, her work faced lots of rejection (拒绝) from publishers (出版者), leading her to finally set aside her dreams of becoming a published author. Little did she know that, years later, her grandson would make her dreams come true.
Chad Cooper decided to give his grandmother the best Christmas gift — the publication of her favorite book. Visiting her in Baltimore for the holidays, he quietly took her manuscript (原稿), along with the illustrations she had commissioned from an artist in Vietnam years ago. Both of them made up for a beautifully printed book.
On Christmas morning, as Barbara saw the gift, she couldn’t believe her eyes. Chad took a video and posted it on TikTok. And the video became popular quickly. “This is probably the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for me in my whole life,” Barbara says in the video. Chad also included a link to the book on Amazon, making it available to the public.
Within days, Barbara’s once-forgotten book rose to the top of Amazon’s bestseller list, becoming a Number 1 best seller.
