Leonard was six years old. He didn't like soap or water. Three or four times a day his mother said to him, "Leonard, your hands are very dirty again. Go and wash them." But Leonard never washed them well. He only put his hands in the water for a few seconds and then took them out again.
Leonard's uncle and aunt lived in another city. One day they came to visit Leonard's parents, and they brought their little son, Richmond, with them. Richmond didn't like soap or water, either.
When they were playing, Leonard looked at Richmond's hands and then said proudly, “Richmond's hands are dirtier than my hands."
"Of course they are." Richmond said angrily, "You are one year older than I am."
