Chinese teenagers love their sweet drinks — drinking more than they should each day. They need to drink less. Less sugar can keep them away from teeth problems, fatness and illnesses related to taking sugar too much.
There is a report covering people from 14 provinces. It finds that most Chinese people take less sugar than the standard(标准的) level set by the World Health Organization. But for children aged from 3 to 17, they take more because the sugary drinks is becoming more and more popular. An effort for teenagers to reduce drinking sugary drink is needed. The sugar import is increasing. More Chinese people are picking up Western-style eating habits, including taking more desserts with lots of sugar.
Sugar can give the body energy. But taking more sugar than need is closely related to teeth problems, diabetes(糖尿病) and heart problems. About 12 percent of children aged from 7 to 18 in the report weigh more than the standard level. Besides sugar, Chinese experts suggest that people should take less salt and oil. Many illnesses are caused by taking too much sugar, salt and oil. And we should take steps to control the problem. To reduce the sugar, salt and oil taking, we need to have a healthy lifestyle. We should have teenagers know the bad effects of an unhealthy diet.
