A new report shows what life might be like in 100 years from now. It describes skyscrapers that are much taller than today’s buildings, underwater cities, and holidays in space. The report asked experts on space, architects (建筑师), city planners to give their ideas on life in the future. They said the way we live, work and play will be completely different from how we do these things today. The experts said 30 years ago, people could not imagine how the Internet and smartphones would change our lives. Now, the Internet and smartphones has changed the way we communicate, learn and do things. The experts said the changes in the next century will be even more unbelievable.
Researchers asked 2,000 adults about the predictions they thought were most likely to happen in the future. They predicted that in the future, few people will go to an office. Most people will work from home and have online meetings. People will have advanced 3D printers (打印机). 3D printers can “print” sofas, tables and even pizza at home. There will also be less need for visits to the doctor. Families will have doctor robots at home. These robots can tell us what the problem is and give us treatment (治疗). We will also be going into space for holidays. We can get resources (资源) from other planets. They even predict that people won’t need to learn English any more.
